I've had this one bookmarked for quite a while. Lot's of valuable info here:

...and this company has a wide variety of heirloom seeds. You can order their awesome catalog for free if you are in the U.S.

    Those are two I like.

    Anybody else got some?

Let's share websites about survival and self-reliant living... Empty Tom Brown Tracker School

    Hi Grits,

Surviving will take grit and wilderness living knowledge, plus quite a bit of angelic grace:

Here are my favorite survivalist sites:

    Tom Brown Tracker School
    http://www.trackerschool.com/about_tracker_school.asp

(He also has published a book of edible wild plants.)

    Susan Weed
    http://susunweed.com/

I haven't tried this myself, but I respect her efforts to pass on this plant knowledge.

    Ragnar Benson

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragnar_Benson

Tough minded guy - years of experience.

Hope it doesn't come to this, but I am still torn between the urban central food distribution idea and the rural idea. It helps to have a big group on your side for 24-7 watches.

All the best -- from beejean

    Thank you! bounce

Here's a few more I've had bookmarked for a while. I really need to start reading up on some of this more...

I will check out yours also. Charles had already posted the herb lady one on boppin' so I looked at it and found it interesting.

For my recent birthday, a friend at work gave me 1 lb. each of corn, butter beans, and crowder peas...all heirloom seeds! cheers

I hope I did the right thing with storage. I read online that if you aren't going to use them for at least a couple of years...to freeze them, so I did.

So, I guess if the SHTF, I can at least grow a couple of items if necessary. I read once on frugal forums how to camouflage your garden. I hope I remember it all when the time comes... tongue
