    4.5 Central CA? Empty 4.5 Central CA?

    I was just looking at the USGS map for CA/NV and saw a big square right in the middle but its yellow and no one felt it. I didn't see it before. So I click it on it and it says this:

    A light earthquake occurred at 12:47:37 AM (PST) on Saturday, March 6, 2010.
    The magnitude 4.5 event occurred 9 km (5 miles) N of Bradley, CA.
    The hypocentral depth is 6 km ( 4 miles).

    Magnitude 4.5 - (unknown type)
    Time Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 12:47:37 AM (PST)
    Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 8:47:37 (UTC)
    Distance from Bradley, CA - 9 km (5 miles) N (3 degrees)
    San Ardo, CA - 13 km (8 miles) SE (133 degrees)
    San Miguel, CA - 23 km (14 miles) NNW (336 degrees)

    A parallel Parkfield universe perhaps?

    All of these hidden faults speak up from time to time -- So amazing!

    Just checked the site again and it's now gone off the map. I thought it was an error.

    I didn't get the shakemail for that until after the square on the map was yellow. Strange. I don't think it ever appeared on the map as a red square.

    Hi All. Someone dropped the ball at SCSN. The quake occurred off the coast of Mendocino. How anyone could miscalculate a quake that bad is beyond me. There wasn't one single seismograph in the area showing a quake of that magnitude, but there were seismographs in the Mendocino area showing the quake.

    I contacted USGS at Menlo Park and they got it straightened out. Take Care...Don
